Reunion, Reunion, Hansen Family Reunion!

We spent our weekend with all of the fabulous Hansen family. Aaron and I have not been on an outing in quite a while so it was nice to get away and spend our weekend at Lake Roosevelt. A big thanks goes to Aaron's mom and dad for helping with Aaron's work so we could go. We couldn't have done it without them!

Aaron's uncle Mark has access to this beautiful little getaway right next to Lake Roosevelt. It has 8 houses and a nice lodge with an outside dining and sitting area. When Aaron and I were dating he invited me to their reunion here. I was a little surprised by the invitation and realized he liked me more than I thought but I declined. I was not ready to meet the gang yet. This is the fourth time since we have been married that we have been here.

It was fun sitting around and chummin with all the cousins that we don't get to see anymore.

This is the common area outside the lodge where we served food, ate, and sat around in the nice weather while the kids ran wild.

This is Elsie and Daisy. In my opinion Daisy looks very similar to Elsie with the same build, brown eyes/hair and cute personalities. They are 6 months apart and both the 3rd child in their families. I loved watching them play together. They were so funny. You can see both dads in the background lovingly watching their daughters.
Aunt Nancy was so kind to bring some things for us to do. We made aprons and paracord bracelets with her. The bracelets are a wonderful emergency tool. You make them to fit your wrist but there is about 7 feet hidden in them in which you can unravel them and have some strong cord handy. I made one for each of us and they will go in our 72 hour kits.

We were in charge of dinner for Friday evening. I took a picture to see how many people were crammed in that tiny kitchen.

Now for the best part: grandkid pictures!

Look at these sweet kids. I think they are all a little grumpy and wondering why we were taking so many pictures of them. If you spot my kids you can see them all looking especially unhappy.

The next best part: Our shirts! We did iron on shirts and kept them simple because they were time consuming. On the back it says HANSEN, but then underneath you will notice a number. It basically is everyones place in the family. Aaron is the 2nd child in his family, so me and aaron had a 2 on our shirt. Then Lilly had 2.1, Anders 2.2, Elsie 2.3 and so forth. I thought they turned out pretty good for iron ons, but I think we decided to have them professionally screened for the next reunion.

The only picture taken of me with our camera. I think Aaron refuses to take pictures.

Family planning meeting for the reunion in 2 years.

Our beautiful Hayley who always helps everyone with kids.

Kid craft time! Aaron's cousin, Jana, made some playdough and it was a little wet and stuck to the kids hands pretty good. They were loving it though! They especially loved when I asked to see their hands.

I just like this picture of Jana who was pretty much the coordinator for the reunion. You can check out her blog for more details on the reunion.

Playing games with the cousins.

Overall we had a great time. It was a nice place that the kids could run around and I didn't have to worry about them (except for Ivy of course). I gave them free reign and they did whatever they wanted the whole time. I think they really enjoyed that freedom for once. The food was good, the company even better and on another plus side the weather was perfect! The Hansens are a fun family to be with. It's too bad that the Hansen clan is growing out of this place. We will have to plan another spot for the next reunion, but we will always remember Lake Roosevelt!

I love Lilly look in the picture of all the cousins! She looked like a bored, annoyed TEENAGER! Watch out! She's growing up quick.

Once again, my little EZRA is not so little! He reminds me so much of you!

Hey Lucy! Little Daisy is my high school BFF's daughter :) You're right, those are 2 adorable girls-love their coloring! Are you guys going to the Goodman reunion in October? I saw the paracord bracelets on Jana's blog, then yours and told Julie we should make them at ours. I'm going to order the cord, I'm guessing it's parachute cord on a spool, and look up how to do it online. Was it pretty easy?

So much fun! I can't imagine your life with 5 kids under the age of 6? 7? Hope you are hanging in there!

I just saw this post just now - a week later, what kind of blog reader am I?

I'm always amused to see pictures of myself when I was unaware. Amused and slightly disheartened.

I'm kicking myself for not making more bracelets!!I just made 3-4.

love your grandkid pic and your writeup of your unhappy kids.

That playdough was a bad batch. I was hoping it would dry out and it never did. grody.
